XFX Introduces GTX280 Cards In India
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Jun 18, 2008

XFX has released its version of the XFX GeForce GTX 280 cards, which utilizes second generation NVIDIA Unified Architecture and delivers up to 50% more gaming performance (compared to the first generation) thanks to 240 enhanced processing cores and a GPU clock of 602 MHz that provide incredible graphics horsepower. The cards come with NVIDIA's new PhysX technology that renders convincing facial expressions, multiple ultra-high polygon characters in complex environments and convincing physical effects like weather and explosions.

The cards also support three-way NVIDIA SLI Technology support, which ensures powerful performance scaling by implementing three-way Alternate Frame Rendering (AFR) for the world’s fastest gaming solution under Windows Vista. Furthermore the cards also support PCI Express 2.0 bus architecture, offers the highest data transfer speeds for today’s bandwidth-hungry games and 3D applications, and is backwards compatible with existing PCI Express motherboards. Apart from this, support is also present for HybridPower Technology, GigaThread Technology, Lumenex Engine, 16x Anti-aliasing Technology and 128-bit floating point High Dynamic-Range (HDR) Lighting.

The new GPU will be available through Rashi Peripherals and its 53 branches across India at an estimated street price of Rs. 49,000 with 3 years warranty.

Well Ubisoft did say that FC-2 will be more "soft" on PC's as compared to Crysis....so thats good news.
Just hope that FC-2 isnt as bad as FC-Instinct was.
These multiplatform releases do tend to favour Consoles more as compared to PC's.
Dont understand why these cards are so ridiculously expensive here in India....and more importantly who in his right mind actually shells out this kind of cash to buy these "latest and greatest" card's?
(They dont remain "latest and greatest" for more than 5-6 month's . . .so even people who buy it to brag dont seem to be winning either.)

The Balance of Product Vs. Price is Must....... I think ZOTAC is doing quite well and doing justification with the Product Features Vs. Price Vs. after sales support !!! I think They are one of the best in Nvidia Profile........

whose gonna buy dis id rather buy a xbox360 or ps3...pc gaming is for retards...its gonna die in some years...one day der will be no games for pc only the consoles will hav it...phweeew when r they gonna learn...

the specs are uber awesome , bt really overpriced. A Gpu alone 50 k that i am sure still cant max Crysis. lol. Kinda agree with what flint said. pc gaming is gr8 but dying these days coz of piracy , time & time upgrades that burn a hole in ur pocket everytime. I miss playing cs , keyboard & mouse are always awesome. Bt i think that now i am comfortable with my ps3 dualshock & 360 controller with online games like Warhawk, cod 4, bad company , halo3 ,gta 4, orange box, mgs online & Gears of War , i feel right at home . The fact that developers are supporting consloes first & then porting it to pc after 5,6 months aint good for pc gaming. Even Crytek said that they wont be pc exclusive anymore after warhead & the fact that even Far Cry 2 s looking impressive on consoles compared to pc . I dont see a point investing in an overexpensive gpu like this. I guess .gpu s like this are only meant for people like ambanis ,tatas or for the hardcore that ve got enough money to burn on pc gaming time & time

the price is too high for the indian gaming market. Plus it ll require a powerfull & branded smps to ensure its max performance . So add another 8-9 k . Spending this much is just worthless on pc gaming. The fact it ll be outdated by the time far cry 2 releases. Its the reason why people are leaving pc gaming & moving to consoles . For that much money i can own a Hdtv ,Ps3 or 360 with 5.1 speakers & fulfill my gaming needs for atleast 5 more years. & i am sure that this card wont last that long ,while i would be playing the latest games on console without even worrying abt an upgrade.
