Simply called the HD-AD2, the new drive appears to have fixed a lot of issues that plagued the first drive HD-AD1. Some of the issues that have been fixed include slow startup times, artifacts when viewing 720p content, a badly designed remote and size issues. The new drive is slimmer and retains its exceptional image quality, a built-in Ethernet port, upgradeable firmware and a price that was half that of competing Blu-ray players. The one glaring problem that still remains is the lack of 1080p support. That support will be included in another upcoming player by Toshiba namely the HD-XA2.
