Google has launched of Google Translate translation service for Hindi that enables automated translation between Hindi and English.
If users need to translate some text, a web page, or issue a query in Hindi and have results translated from English, they can do it at: http://www.google.com/translate_t. Of the total literate Indian population, only about 13% are English literate.
This launch is the latest in a series of updates that are all focused on making it easier for multi-lingual users in India.
Google's made it real simple. Users need to only type in the word as it sounds using their regular keyboard. For example, type "mera" using regular English characters, hit the space bar, and it'll get converted to the corresponding Hindi word. Users can also add an iGoogle gadget to their home page to do the same thing. This service is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Apart from this users can also scrap their friends on Orkut and create and update their own blog in these five languages.

.. and guess what .. I followed the link u guys pasted here ... and it doesnt translate the way u mention it here ... u have to first fully type the text, choose the language into which u have to convert and then press translate ..Plus ...its not perfect enuf ... some of the words I typed in Roman ... came back as it is, even after translation

.. but I dont think this is anything new in this news... coz this tool was present for quite some time on the Google Labs website ... they then integrated this into Orkut, which is again a Google-owned subsidary ... and now onto the Google language tools site ... ...thakela news!
