Microsoft Working On Photo Search

Microsoft today revealed that it is working on a way to search the Internet using photos captured by cell phone cameras. People can email Microsoft a cameraphone photo, which when used with Photo2Search, as Microsoft calls it will returns Web pages with information about the places in the photo.

One of the ideas of the research, as explained by Microsoft, is to augment the usual searches with the details captured by photos. Surprisingly, news of Photo2Search comes a few days after Google, received a patent for an alternative way to search the Internet using spoken words, rather than written text.
