MySpace To Auction Its Search Function
By: Priyanka Pradhan   |   Jun 14,2006
Popular social networking site, MySpace, owned by News Corp. is looking to sell off its search based function to either Google, Yahoo! or Microsoft. Chief operating officer Peter Chernin said that MySpace is probably too late to make a significant mark in the search arena, but plans to find "some strategic combination" with an established search site.

Now, attempts are being made by the parent company to earn revenue from the social networking site, which is major growth area on the internet. Rupert Murdoch and Co. are keen on making up for $580m that News Corp. spent for acquiring MySpace last year, by making it a major forum for investment.
