By: Gaurav Seth   |   Sep 14, 2006
Acer, one of the biggest manufacturers of IT products has finally got permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to market in India. The company was initially facing resistance from the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP). DIPP felt that instead of importing products and then selling them here, Acer should have set up a manufacturing plant to attract more foreign investment in India.

Acer has already been selling in India in collaboration with Wipro with exclusive showrooms in Kerala and Chhattisgarh. Acer known worldwide for providing very good value for money would be adopting the same policy here. Their main USP would be to sell affordable systems thus bridging the gap between assembled and expensive branded systems.
