Amongst all the CES news it feels different to cover an Indian brand at this point, though definitely 'good' different. Videocon is launching a new range of Integra Classic LCD TV with many unique features, including cinema surround system, with a PMPO output of 1000 W.
So What is cinema surround system? This is what Videocon says in its release..
'To enhance the sound effects, processing of sound signal by using appropriate speakers is must. The sound signals are processed through a specially designed sound port. This sound port consists of Subwoofers, Bass Port, Normal speakers and tweeters. The sound signals are processed through this sound port for excellent sound output.'
A review of the product will be put up next week, so I will try and exemplify this new feature. I hope its not some gimmick.
Besides they have a high claim to contrast at 10,000:1, and a feature called DCTi , which 'monitors coincident luma transitions; thus a faster edge is synthesized for the chroma transitions. So there is no distortion in picture signal even though fast changes are appearing.' I'm curious now.
