Yeah, that's the first reaction the entire world had when they heard his name attached to the project but after checking out a couple of his movies, those cynics are now warming up to this dude and feel he may be able to do justice to this movie.
Here's what Peter Jackson, producer of the movie had to say, "As a gaming fan, I'm excited to bring Halo's premise, action and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today's technology can provide. Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we're delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. With Neill on board, I'm even more excited by the potential of this project."
Right, now back to "who the hell is his guy?" Neil Blomkamp is a commercial director from Johannesburg, South Africa and you could get a jist of the stuff he's done by going through his page at imdb.com.
In a recent interview with aintitcoolnews, Neil confessed he didn't have a whole lot of details to offer since the project's so far away, but one thing's for sure, he wants Master Chief to be so much more than CG. "Well, the film has to have a feeling of reality, and so that means that I want to keep him real as much as I can, there is a necessity for him to become CG in sequences where a guy in a suit would just not work, but for the most part I am aiming for real."
Can this guy do justice to a movie of such colossal proportions? Wait and watch people, wait and watch.
