By: Shayne Rana   |   Feb 22, 2007

The two newest 7.1 megapixel additions to Canon's line of thin ELPH cameras are the PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH and the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH. Both digicams are built on Canon's original box and circle design.

The PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH camera comes in dual-tone, silver and midnight matte black face and full-black back panel that blends with its three-inch LCD display. The model is also offered in the traditionally finished case with brushed sliver patina and brilliant gloss highlights.

It also features a new "Touch Control Dial" on the rear panel that provides, fingertip access to many operations including mode selection, setting ISO speed and settings. As with all Digital ELPH cameras, the PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH camera is lightweight and compact, at less than five ounces, and measures approximately 0.75 of an inch thick, 2.25-inch high and fractionally more than 3.5-inches long.

The PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH camera incorporates nearly all of the features of its predecessor. The differences are the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH's 2.5-inch, 230,000 pixel PureColor LCD display, an optical viewfinder and its traditional ELPH function setting button. The camera weighs in at less than 4.5 ounces, and at 3.39 inches long, 2.11 inches high is smaller than a deck of regulation playing cards.

"Despite all of the emphasis on their sleek and stylish stainless steel shells, The PowerShot SD750 and SD1000 Digital ELPH cameras are first and foremost, Canon cameras with all of the acclaimed quality, integrity, imaging excellence, design innovation and intuitive engineering that we bring to our products," states Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc.

In stores beginning late March 2007 in the US, the PowerShot SD750 and the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH ship with a rechargeable battery pack, a 32MB SD memory card, a USB interface cable, an AV cable, a wrist strap, and Canon's software suite and sells for an estimated price of Rs. 15399.56 and ($349.99) and Rs. 13199.56 ($299.99) respectively.
