Cameras and camcorders just upped their storage to unprecedented heights with the introduction of SanDisk's new Extreme III series CompactFlash cards in capacities of 12 GB and 16 GB, the maximum in the world. The Extreme III series cards are currently available in capacities of 1 GB to 8 GB. They are also in Memory Stick PRO Duo an SD card formats, though not in the super 12 GB and 16 GB capacities.
The cards are expected to cost a stupendous Rs 36,000 and Rs 49,000 approximately, for the 12 GB and 16 GB versions respectively, when they are released this December.
