Motorola is catching up at 3GSM Barcelona with a series of new models.
The Moto Q Q9 is an upgrade to the smartphone, which features the latest Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system and comes with Office Mobile and Microsoft's push email feature. The device is blessed with HSDPA as well as the usual quad-band GSM radio, a landscape aspect QVGA screen, full QWERTY keypad, Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo A2DP support, a 2 megapixel camera and a microSD memory card slot. The device is just 11.6mm thin. The Q9 is expected to be available around the second quarter of 2007.
Next up is the KRZR K3, which also HSDPA-capable. The design has received slight changes as can be seen from the external shell, but inside, the device packs in a secondary VGA camera for video calling, a 2-inch QVGA resolution screen and 50mb of internal memory. Like the earlier KRZRs, this one also does Bluetooth stereo A2DP, supports microSD memory cards and has a 2 megapixel camera. The K3 is coming soon in Q1 2007.
The SLVR L9 is an upgrade that adds Bluetooth A2DP stereo support, an FM radio tuner with RDS support, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording support and is GSM, GPRS as well as EDGE capable. It also goes in for a RIZR-like keypad instead of the brushed metal one in the previous SLVRs. It features a microSD memory card a lot, and also MegaSIM support (for multi-megabyte storage on the SIM card itself, which is presently sitting at 512MB). The L9 is coming up around Q2 2007 in select markets.
Finally, the speculated RIZR Z8 makes its official appearance. The phone has a slightly new shape that's more curved to fit your face, being around 15.3mm thick. This is also the first Motorola phone to use Nokia's Series 60 UI! The Z8 also boasts HSDPA, a 2 megapixel main camera, secondary VGA camera for video calling, a 2.2-inch QVGA display, Bluetooth with A2DP stereo, 90mb of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot. This one is coming around second quarter of 2007.
