In keeping with its stellar reputation in the motherboard industry, Abit, reacting to reports of problem with its products has said that it is recalling an undisclosed number of its Fatal1ty and AN9 32X motherboards because of stability problems.
The announcement was made by Universal Abit who said that testing had revealed a hardware issue "that eventually might affect the performance and general stability of these particular motherboards". Only a "small number" of units are affected and these boards would be recalled at Abit's expense, through either its corporate headquarters or its branch offices.
The recalled boards include: the Fatal1ty AN9 32X, with serial numbers between FAN93UDC000001 and FAN93UDC002713, plus FAN93UDD000001 to FAN93UDD001648; as well as the generic AN9 32X boards, with serial numbers AN932UDC000001 to AN932UDC001407, and AN932UDD000001 to AN932UDD001000.
Both boards are based on the Nvidia nForce 590 chipset and use an AMD AM2 processor.
