Before you go all 'Captain Obvious' on me, this isn't to tell you that Apple is planning to make the iPhone. That, we've all known for years now. It's just that The Commercial Times is now reporting that the actual original equipment manufacturer of the iPod, Hon Hai Precision, has been awarded a contract to also manufacture the iPhone.
The Taiwanese company will be manufacturing 12 million iPhones of Apple and will have them up for display at the next MacWorld Expo, due to take place in January, 2007 in San Fransisco, CA. Think Secret reports that the phones will probably be launched in the first half of 2007.
Hon Hai Precision also manufactures several other Apple products, and according to the report, they will also be working on newer 15-inch MacBooks, supposedly scheduled to be ready by January or earlier. Hon Hai Precision is more popularly known as Foxconn in the enthusiast motherboard segment.
