Sony Ericsson has introduced its mobile broadband PC card for laptops, PC300, offering users full broadband speed on the move. The PC300 is Sony Ericsson's first attempt to support four generations of the world's most popular cellular wireless technology: HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS.
The PC card has a fully integrated, unobtrusive antenna that can be kept in the laptop all the times. The download speed of up to 3.6 Mbps, aims to make it easier for users to get access to large files or attachments, on the go.
Johan Tysklind, marketing director, Mobile Computing for Sony Ericsson said, "You no longer have to put up with slower speeds from your broadband connection just because you're away from the office or home. There's hardly anywhere in the world that doesn't have coverage for one of these four generations of wireless technology so you'll always find a connection."
Representatives of the company say, the PC300 Mobile Broadband PC Card has an integrated design, an intuitive interface and easy configuration. The antenna extends just over 1 cm and is barely noticeable when the card is inserted. Users may connect to the internet by sliding the card into the laptop’s PC Card slot, and the card will detect the wireless technology, available locally. Users will then have access to high speed internet to surf the web and even access their company's intranet over a VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Tysklind added, "If you feel that it can be a gamble on whether you'll get fast broadband when you're away from your fixed connection, the PC300 is the answer. It's a great way to play your cards right, fixing the odds of getting fast mobile broadband firmly in your favor."
The PC300 Mobile Broadband HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE PC Card for laptops will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2007. Sony has not mentioned the pricing for the product.
