Logitech has unveiled the Logitech Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System, which according to Logitech, was done to address the needs of those who use their PC for ultimate entertainment. I like these marketing slogans, it draws more interest to the product no doubt, which seems like a revamped version of their popular Z4 2.1 system.
A solution for a Windows Media Center, the black and silver Logitech Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System features SRS TruSurround HD, delivering a surround sound experience without the need for rear speakers (hmmm...) a unique three-amplifier design, two-way satellite speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer. It comes with a powerful media center remote, and thats believable as Logitech are masters of remote controls, with their famous Harmony series.
"Although people are trying to enjoy film, TV and music on their PC, many of them are dissatisfied with the complexity of surround sound speakers for the PC today,” said Tim Leehane, director of product marketing for Logitech’s Audio business unit. “The Logitech Z Cinéma speaker system is for every person who wants outstanding audio quality and a surround sound experience from their PC, but doesn’t want the hassle of setting up rear speakers. The difference is dramatic. We’re very confident that people will enjoy this product."
The Logitech Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in January. The suggested retail price is $299.99 (U.S.).
We spoke to Logitech, and were told that we can expect it in mid February officially, so watch this space for a review.
