By: Laiq Qureshi   |   Aug 20,2007
Epson today announced its newest line of Ultra Hi-Definition Photo Printers - the Epson Stylus Photo R280, RX595 and RX680. These printers make use of Epson's dry-to-the-touch Claria Hi-Definition Inks.

"Our newest generation of Ultra Hi-Definition products produce legendary professional-quality photos, yet are easy enough for anyone to use," said Steve Semos, product manager, Epson. "Each model has an abundance of intelligent, automated technology that eliminates the guess work for consumers, such as automatically turning dark, overexposed or faded images into brilliant photos or correcting red eyes. In combination with our Claria inks and wide-range of Epson papers, these prints can last until the 23rd century."

All three Ultra Hi-Definition models deliver a dozen 4x6 size photos in as fast as 2 minutes, 17 seconds, according to the company. Users may choose their preferred format - bordered or borderless photos in popular 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, and letter (8.5x11) sizes as well as a variety of specialty media. Each printer takes advantage of Epson's exclusive MicroPiezo print head with DX5 "smart nozzle" technology, which produces up to five sizes of ink droplets for the sharpest detail and smoothest gradations.

The printers also come with Epson's Auto Photo Correction feature that automatically correcting dark, backlit and washed-out photos, while adjusting skin tones and enhancing the richness of scenery. These printers will also enable users to print directly on ink jet printable CDs and DVDs. Users can create personalized designs with Epson Print CD software (included) and print directly onto a CD or DVD using the front-loading CD tray.

Apart from this, the Epson Stylus Photo RX595 all-in-one also adds scanning, copying and PC-free photo printing capabilities. It features a large 2.5-inch high-quality color LCD. Users can print directly from all digital camera memory cards and USB flash drives or directly from digital cameras or cell phones via the PictBridge connection or optional Bluetooth device.

All three models will be available in September. The estimated street prices are $99.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo R280, $149.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo RX595 and $199.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo RX680.
