Sony has released their new NW-800 flash Network Walkman. The Storage space ranges from 8GB to 2GB for various models.
Each model has a phone-like interface and menus. They also come with Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that Sony claims would run for 30 hours for music and 8 hours for video. The series also come with DSEE sound enhancement systems and EX-type headphones. They also have 2-inch QVGA color LCD displays which can be horizontally or vertically.
The new NW series are compatible with MPEG4 & AVC video formats, JPEG for pictures (with a slideshow mode) and ATRAC , MP3 , AAC (non DRM) and WMA (non DRM) for audio files. Files can also be dragged and dropped for playback, or Sony’s Sonic Stage 4.3 software is provided for conversion / file transfer.
Models listed on Sony's Euro sites are A808 for the 8GB, A806 for the 4GB and A805 for the 2GB. They have been launched in Europe currently and will release in the US shortly. Prices start from £199 for the 8GB, which is close to $400 US, that’s around Rs. 17,500. The features/specifications can differ from country to country.
