Will Microsoft's Argo race ahead of iPod?
By: Priyanka Pradhan   |   Jul 11,2006
While speculations about the forthcoming MP3 player from Microsoft are still doing the rounds, there's news that the iPod killer will be called ‘Argo'. The Seattle Times has now reported that in addition to all the features of the iPod, the MP3 player will include a media player and offer online services. Moreover, it is now rumored that the Argo project is a part of a bigger project involving Xbox-branded products, which means users will also be able to play games on the device.

The Wi-Fi enabled player, according to rumors, will compete not just with the iPod in the personal audio world, but is also set to compete with handheld consoles from Sony and Nintendo. If the information is indeed true, the December release of the device is bound to set the market ablaze.

I'm not sure how this description makes it much different than Sony's PSP. The biggest reason it seems for multi function devices to fail, is that it that they are jacks of all trade, masters of none. And who want's to pay $250 for a mp3 player?
