According to Sony's spokesperson David Karraker, the 60 GB model has outsold the 20 GB one 10 to 1. The 60 GB model provides a lot more hard disk space compared to the 20 GB model, and gamers definitely need the space to store movies and downloaded games. Apart from this, it also offers in-built wireless support, along with support for other storage media such as memory sticks; in doing so, it adds more value for your money, for a price difference of about $100.
The PS3 20 GB will be discontinuing in North America only for now. Until it's sold out however, the ones that are already on shelves will retain their $500 price tag.
