Here's David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, had to say about the move:

We've seen mobile phones turn into handheld gaming devices in the past (remember the N-gage?), but this will be the first time we see it happen the other way around. Either way, in the long run telecommunication and interactive entertainment will merge seamlessly (it's already doing so in many way), forming an even more immersive experience that'll seep deep into your daily life.
