Credit Check Required to Buy iPhone 3G
By: Shayne Rana   |   Jul 09, 2008
According to reports, with the launch of the iPhone 3G releasing on Friday, Apple is making sure that their US consumers are fully aware that they will only be able to buy and unlock a handset in official Apple and AT&T stores. Secondly all those consumers would also be required to sign up with the provider for a 2 year contract and thirdly they would be required to undergo a credit check. For that purpose they will need to show up with their social security numbers and credit cards.

With the situation like that you’d think they were buying some sort of a life insurance policy or weirder yet, a brand new car. It’s not going to be too long after that (again hopefully) that the iPhone 3G would make its way here. Can we expect the same requirements for documentation et al? Get your taxes paid and stand by with your credit and Pan cards people.

American's should proudly declare that they are corporate slaves in this new economy.
Getting tied to a AT&T to use an Apple handset is like buy a Mercedes and get tied to reliance for petrol. Their system is pathetic.

This is India where the mobile companies fight with each other to get the biggest market share... Iphone 3G may be very good but with so many prerequisites, people here (who already think over time to to escape the scrutinies) will not be ready to shelve with all the information sought by this company.... I think people should just relax and this company will knock the doors to sell the phone, here.

how much will be the cost of iPhone in India nad when will it be launched is the basic question

This is just hype being created by Steve Jobs like MicroSoft did few years back with its products. After all, whether 3G iPhone or 4G phone, it has to come out and people will see it whether it is worth to buy or not.

In Amrika, there exists Apple cult where worshippers of Steve Jobs/Apple always behave like herds(but thinking themselves as nerds!) .

I saw few days back that guys sitting in the queue for 1 week to get the 3G iPhone. Looks like Amrika is behaving like Tamil Nadu movie fans club members!
