One of the biggest issues with the Apple iPhone is the fact that it needs to be used with Apple's proprietary iTunes software for pretty much anything and everything. Fans of the handset who managed to either get past that with alternative software or just suck it up will now have a new problem to contend with – the docking port.
Apple has, as you all already know by now, not only upgraded the handset with 3G capabilities and a few other features like GPS et al they’ve also redesigned the handset. If you happen to own a first generation iPhone with all the accessories and wish to upgrade, you’re probably going to have to buy all the accessories all over again for the iPhone 3G. If not all accessories, the dock would be one that you would need to buy. If you were thinking that you’d probably just save some money and retain your older one, think again. Due to the new slimmer design the dock had to also undergo a change to accommodate the iPhone 3G’s form factor.
