Nokia Launches E61i

Here it is all you wide phone loving, QWERTY and Camera happy, Blackberry hating "Phon-ees". The E61i smart phone is finally here. Officially! She's totally geared up for business with a little bit of entertainment potential as well.


G. K. Chakrapani, Country General Manager, Nokia Enterprise Solutions, said, "The launch of Nokia E61i smartphone will enable the workforce experience a full range of mobile email features apart from increasing their productivity, improving business communication and optimizing the costs."

The E61i runs on S60 platform (3rd Edition 9.1a). it's a Quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900)/EDGE enabled phone that’s also connectivity-ready with Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth and further high speed via high-speed 3G. Other office functions include Quick Office for viewing documents and Zip manager to compress large files. The 'Team Suite' application facilitates conference calls and communication via SMS and emails with team members. It further aids business with the email supports like POP/IMAP and SMTP protocols along with Nokia Intellisync wireless email 8.0 and a variety of third party email clients: Mail for exchange 1.5, Vista Mobile V 5.5, RIM Blackberry Connect V2.1 and good mobile messaging.


Media-wise the E61i supports MP3, AAC and MP4 formats for audio and video and audio streaming via 3GPP and Realmedia. The Nokia E61i also supports Java MIDP 2.0-based games and applications. It has 60MB built-in memory and memory can be expanded using microSD cards up to 2 GB. It has full QWERTY keypad and five way nav-pad. Let's not forget the 2.0 megapixel camera. And if you like you can print directly using Bluetooth.

The E61i was retails at an MRP of Rs. 22,500.

I bought this a month, and i dont regret it...I think its one of the best qwerty phones in its price range....

definately looks like a calculator, but then is fun SMSing from, Camera is good too, if u r a blackberry/ smsing person, worth a try.

Looks better that then the earlier E61 with added advantage of the camera. However this model has quick office which allows you to view documents and not create documents , spreadsheets or presentations. This is a disadvantage as compared to E61 which had these features.

what about the old E61 phone which I bought, and I have numbing pain in fingers when i use the Curser which is very very badly designed.
Can Nokia change the key for me to softer one
