Samsung Launches INNOV8 In India
By: Shayne Rana   |   Oct 01, 2008
Samsung Mobile today strengthened its multimedia phone portfolio by launching its ultimate mobile entertainer, the 8 megapixel camera phone, Samsung INNOV8, in the Indian market.

"Samsung Innov8 is made for users who want to enjoy the best possible multimedia entertainment with their mobile phone. With the 8-megapixel camera, pre-embedded 3D games, high speed data connections and much more, users can experience the true benefits of mobile entertainment", said Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Mobile.

Recognized as Samsung's first ever 8-megapixel camera phone, Samsung Innov8 uses the latest in imaging applications such as smile shot, blink shot and face recognition. Users can enjoy personalizing and editing their photos, videos and music with Movie Maker and Story Board applications. The handset also acts as a digital photo frame, allowing users to display their favorite images on its 2.8 inch, 16M color LCD.

The 32GB memory (16GB Internal and 16GB MicroSD Card) provides sufficient content storage. It also supports a wide range of video player formats including DivX, WMV, Real Player and MPEG4 and the AV experience is enhanced with Samsung's DNSe 2.0 audio engine. The Innov8 is being launched preloaded with two Aamir Khan movies.

The phone comes pre-embedded with two games, Asphalt and FIFA 08. With an optical mouse and 4-way navigation key, users can enjoy a PC-like browsing experience. The handset also offers HSDPA high speed Internet, Wi-Fi and EDGE/GPRS connectivity. It also sports Bluetooth with an A2DP profile. The phone is equipped with A GPS technology, offering navigation and geo-tagging services and it runs on a Symbian OS V9.3, S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2.

The Samsung Innov8 is priced at Rs. 45,999.

I don't understand why our people are crazy about 3G phonesapeople are simply lured with attractive and ludicuroud ads and we rush to buy. People from other countries do nothing like that. Let us not spend huge sums just to communicate..

the price is already down in diwali for rs42000 .it is far better than iphone or nokia n96.wait for 1 to 3 months it will surely go below 40000.
aka @ Oct 31, 2008
INNOV8 is for sure and without any doubt or comparison the best available in the market today but sadly is also the costliest. but the bottom line is it is not targeted at a mass market, buyers are very niche. INNOV8 is for someone who is choosing between iphone and n96... u see INNOV8 is far far far better than these two phones in every which way. but hey, lets not forget that a mobile phone itself was not meant for everyone a decade ago but see now. likewise... I would just say that buying INNOV8 now is foolishness...wait for a couple of months, let more 8mp mobiles hit the market like SE c905, LG renoir etc and probably by jan 2009 and the price for sure will drop by around 5k to 8k. INNOV8 around 37k.... i will definetly get one for myself.... again... INNOV8 is the best out there.

This is the time of RECESSION even for the Americans... how can Indians think of 45K for a mobile phone?! Americans don't have money to pay for their Home Loans.... and Samsung is asking Indians to pay Rs.45K for a phone??!! Are Indians so foolish in Samsung's opinion??!!
Raju @ Oct 05, 2008
@Bharat:
I second you buddy, coz this is definately the ultimate mobile as of now. And secondly this is the launch price....for the sake of other ppl who r so much fussing and mulling over the price, the nokia n95(NOT the 8gb) was launched at INR36,500(officially). And i dont have to tell how many have sold since........!!
NB @ Oct 05, 2008
45k what samsung is thinking to take out the money paid to amir khan from the customers :)
2gbhosting.com @ Oct 04, 2008
Amar's comment about fool hardiness of purchasing expensive mobiles for 45-50k are spot on, So also his advice to stick to full featured fones available for 10-15k. The best I saw was an Englishman- using a 6-7 year old Nokia-6210- and when i asked him on use of such an old Mobile- his reply was- ‘this has clear voice- good key pad and is built like a tank and serves me well- I use it to communicate with my family in UK. All mobile companies are taking U Indians for ride- who are buying fones for outrageous prices today-selling for peanuts tomorrow & and thus losing Billions of Dollars every year' How very true.
vkumar @ Oct 03, 2008
its too much , what happen to samsung. its better if they not launch it in india.46k for a phone without touch screen, qwerty keyboard--- Iam not mad....
helloooo @ Oct 03, 2008
Let us not forget that all these mobile phones lifetime is expected to be maximum 1 year (which is outlined as warranty). After that you can not resell these phones for attractive bargain price. While, you continue to get newer models outwit older versions in terms of features.

So, it would be a foolish trap to buy phones more than Rs 10K -15K. Value for money erodes as you keep paying more than Rs 13K for any mobile phone unless you are one of those super rich or you have enough money to spare on mobiles every year.

50K for mobile phones are outrageous unless they are jewellery types where it is made up of Gold or Platinum.
Amar @ Oct 02, 2008
You forgot to mention 45,999 only....
Orionindia @ Oct 02, 2008
y dont Digi cam ???? if u choosing a camera mobile bout 8 MP
the DIGI cam is good option
SUMIT @ Oct 02, 2008
who wants a 16gb card????? why are they compelling us to buy the card ..along with the phone.. its not the case elsewhere in the world.. chekcout cnet uk and asia.. they just get 1gb card with phone so its cheaper! i think samsung are trying to outsell sandisk's 16gb card, they rpobably have some deal.. coz who would want to buy a 16 gb card?? half the phones are not even compatible with this card! RIP samsung even the tatas birlas ambani are smarter to fall for this!
ak @ Oct 02, 2008
Bad strategy. The Omnia costs around 40k and Innov8 for 46k?! That makes no sense. They should cut down the price of Omnia to around 30k. As for Innov8 being so expensive, it had to be. 8mp cam and every damn feature you can expect, all this sure comes at a price.
Navan @ Oct 02, 2008
Innovate a lower price to sell this one, Sumo Sung!
re @ Oct 02, 2008
n those guys who say i will buy a laptop or will buy a ipod + a good cam na good phone ... just one question can u carry them in ur pockets ... lol ... this is not for common ppl .. why do pl here always keep complaining abt the price ... wat price do u expect for such a phone - 10K ?? this is wat sets a super rich from others .. this is a not for common ppl ...this is for ppl born in Tatas or ambanis family ... n if u are looking for a 1 lac phone than go chk out vertu ...
Bharat @ Oct 02, 2008

Anshuman @ Oct 02, 2008
46000 BUCKS FOR THIS PIECE....U KIDDING ME...i would rather buy a 10mp digi camera worth around 20k & buy a good 15k handset rather than spend 46k on this one...what is wrong with samsung..its prices are just going up...

Shreyas @ Oct 01, 2008
when i started to read i had one question in mind with such features how much an user has to spend--------45000/- way too much....
its not at all worth it even if you have the capacity purchase----better a get a laptop....
Pranish @ Oct 01, 2008
Not sure if this is a touch screen? Does not have QWERTY keyboard. Does not have front facing camera (for 3G users only)....why so much over priced?
Amar @ Oct 01, 2008
probably for 2 phones
insane @ Oct 01, 2008
Next year I might give it a try. I hope it will cost within 30k then.
Sudip @ Oct 01, 2008
Heres how to make a much better use of 46k than spending on this phone, Buy N82 18k + Buy Ipod Touch/Nano/Classic roughly 18k + Buy good 8MP digital camera with price range of around 10k. 46k well spent!
AmitW @ Oct 01, 2008
