The latest version of Symbian OS UIQ, which is used in the Sony Ericsson P and M series of smartphones, is getting ready for release soon.
The new version of UIQ is an incremental upgrade. It highlights Scalable Vector Graphics support which will prove useful for devices without a standard resolution screen. It also improves multi-tasking abilities and soft key configurations of the phone.
An SDK for the new UIQ will be launched soon for developers to start using the new features. Meanwhile, devices featuring the new UIQ 3.1 are expected to be launched at 3GSM.
