The latest version of the popular Linux distribution Ubuntu, 6.06, will be released today. The version, nicknamed “Dapper Drake,” is the first release of Ubuntu with a server edition. Canonical Ltd., the developers of Ubuntu, has also announced a long term five-year support program for the server version and a three-year program for the desktop version. Ubuntu 6.06 will run on PCs with AMD, Intel or compatible processors, older Macs with PowerPC chips (not Intel ones) and Sun SPARCs.
In addition all of this, 6.06 also contains a video interview with former South African President Nelson Mandela explaining the meaning of the name Ubuntu - it can be translated to “humanness.”
