Intel's Platform Definition Centre has tied up with two Arabic software content companies, to digitize the holy book of Islam, the Quran and develop a Saudi- tailored E- curriculum to focus on education.
Dar Al Rasm Al-Othmani, the software company that developed the wireless E-Quran, has made the holy book available in 40 different languages, for global usage. The E-Quran is an Ultra Mobile Device, based on Intel's newly announced family of LPIA processors. It also contains the 100 different interactive Quran explanations, as well as 500,000 religious science pages. The entire package is bundled in an e-book design with a 7-inch display and built-in Wi-Fi, to connect to Islamic portals, and allow the user to stay connected to the Muslim online community. Dar Al Rasm Al-Othmani has also developed the E Quran for the physically disabled that operates via voice commands.
The E-Curriculum, developed by Semanoor, is also developed on the same Ultra Mobile Wireless Device platform by Intel's LPIA processors. Semanoor offers a DVD that that contains all official, Saudi- based government curriculums from K to 12th grade. The DVD is now approved and backed by the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia, and is being implemented in Saudi Arabian public and private schools.
Mr. Emad Bin Fahad Al-Doghaither of Semanoor and Dar Al Rasm Al-Othmani said, "The DVD contains over 8 gigabytes of data and the tools help teachers to develop their own e-lessons with minimal training, by taking the teachers from a level where they are merely implementing other people's lessons to a level that allows them to tailor their own plans to the needs of their students. We hope that this product allows teaching and the educational process to be more effective and up-to date, while maintaining creativity and teacher involvement."
