With Windows Vista, around the corner expect a lot of Vista specific software announcements. The first one is Yahoo!, who has indicated that it is building a new version of its Messenger communications service specifically for the Windows Vista operating system. The product will be demonstrated sometime today and will be launched in public beta during the second quarter.
The new version will offer the ability to resize the contacts window and to start a chat without opening a chat window, easy access to a color wheel to change the background color, and the ability to make photos full-screen size when sharing them.
It will also allow users to combine multiple chat sessions into one window with multiple tabs much like the 3rd-party program Trillian has for ages. Yahoo! Messenger for Vista will also take advantage of the desktop search in Vista. It will let users search for photos stored on the computer for use as avatars.
