Reliance Communications has announced the launch of Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Interoperability among mobile operators across the world, enabling them to share MMS pictures, videos and tones with subscribers of global telecom majors like China Mobile, China Unicom, Digi-Malaysia, Telstra, Australia and MTNL, among others. Reliance is also discussing and testing interoperability with other Indian operators.
Mahesh Prasad, President of Application Services Group, Reliance Communications said, "Reliance has been at the forefront to introduce innovative services that have redefined mobile telephony and the way millions of customers use mobile phones. There is an increasing trend in the usage of MMS and Camera Phones among mobile customers and over 2,50,000 MMS downloads were saved or sent from Reliance Mobile World during the recent festivals. Reliance Communications endeavors to create a global community of MMS users of which MMS interoperability is the first step."
Currently, Reliance Mobile customers are charged Rs 5 per MMS. The MMS interoperability service on Reliance Mobile is supported by Aicent Inc.
