Video search engine, blinkx, has introduced a tool for finding full-length TV programs on the Web.
blinkx Remote, available at http://www.blinkx.com/, leverages blinkx's speech to text transcription and indexing technology, to identify full-length TV shows by season and episode. In addition, blinkx Remote corroborates search results with information from trusted online sources, including Wikipedia and IMDB.com, to provide users with the most accurate TV search results available anywhere.
The amount of professionally produced video online has exploded in recent months, as an increasing number of networks and entertainment companies are making content legally available on the Internet.
Users only need to enter a search for a TV show at blinkx.com and blinkx Remote will recognize the title and deliver accurate results from across the Web, prioritizing the full-length versions of the program over short clips. blinkx Remote can even retrieve available episodes from particular seasons, if specified. Users can then watch the episode online, download it from sites including Amazon and iTunes, even or send it to their TiVo, based on availability.
"We've moved beyond watching online video clips to embrace the Internet as a primary entertainment outlet —this is the era of online TV, prime time programs you've only been able to watch in your living room on your regular TV are now accessible from your PC," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO, blinkx. "With its superior search capabilities, and index of the broadest range of entertainment content on the Web, we believe that blinkx Remote is simply the best way to find your favorite TV shows online."
