Google Buys Neven Vision
By: Gagan Gupta   |   Aug 17, 2006
Google recently bought over California-based Neven Vision for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition gives the technology to instantly derive information from a photo, which includes face recognition and background recognition.

This technology can make it a lot easier to organize your digital photos, and make it a lot easier to find photos by looking for a person or a place. Neven Vision employees have confirmed the finalization of the deal, but have refused to disclose any financial details.

Google has yet to comment on where they plan to use this technology, but Google's image-management application, Picasa, seems to be the most likely candidate for it.
