Zapak.com Unveils 'Interactive TV' on Gaming
By: Priyanka Pradhan   |   Jan 04,2007

Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd. has announced the launch of interactive TV on their casual gaming portal, Zapak.com. The new feature Zapak.tv, will showcase audio visual content, based on the gaming industry, such as trends, game reviews, celebrity chats on gaming, special previews, cheat codes, behind the scenes, game ratings and countdowns and even gaming jockeys. The portal will also offer reviews of popular console games such as Gears of war. Zapak has its in-house reviewers and gamers, but has also tied up with international firms for syndicated content.

Zapak.tv will also cover national and international gaming events such as the World Cyber Games Tournament along with local events and contests by Zapak. Moreover, users of Zapak.com will soon be able to shoot their own gameplay videos, review the games or just talk about gaming related content and upload it directly onto Zapak.tv, much like YouTube.

However, Zapak.tv will require a minimum internet speed of 128 kbps, so users with dial-up internet connection may not be able to enjoy the feature completely.

The portal also has plans to add women-oriented games to its bank of over 150 casual games, within the next two months. Actor Bipasha Basu unveiled her own line of games for Zapak, starting with an action-adventure game, Beach Blaze, set for a Febuary 25 release.

Rohit Sharma, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment said, "With more games on Bollywood celebrities and Cricket, we are targeting not only the Indian gaming community, but looking to capture the attention of NRIs and the global Indian community as well. We’re hoping for considerable international appeal."

He also revealed plans for a number of online and offline contests on Chess and cricket, both on a national as well as international level.

Nice to see it getting nice features! a only flash game site would have been a bad thing but this seems intriguing.

Watching their review of Gears of War was by far the most painful thing I have ever experience in my entire life; Zapak.com should die a quick and painful death.
