Relic not so keen on the Nintendo Wii?
By: Avinash Bali   |   Jul 30,2006
In a recent interview with gamesindustry.biz, developer Relic has revealed that they may port two of their RTSs, Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War for next-gen consoles, and by next-gen, they mean the Xbox 360 and the PS3, not the Nintendo Wii. Here's what Relic head honcho, Ron Moravek had to say, "We make more mature-rated games, and more high-end graphical games, and the Wii is going in a little bit of a different direction; they're not going to play the same game as the 360 and the PS3. You never know - if we came up with something cool we could do it, but right now our plan is not to... You can't do the same types of games on the Wii because the power is a lot different. It's a different type of technology." Will Ron have to eat his words? We'll have to wait and watch till the Wii launches for that. warhammer.jpg

I guess some people are just intimidated by new and exciting concepts.

"if we came up with something cool we could do it, but right now our plan is not to… "

You mean Relic can't come up with something cool so instead they will churn out a PS3 type game. IE: a title released in episodic format based on a "proven franchise" (something done before) and fill it with 70% FMV cut scenes + 20% in-game advertising and product placement + 10% actual game / plot; packaged in a bloated Blew-ray drive for games that blow.

Come on Ron, don't give in to the industry, try a little...you can do it!

Is Sony paying these people to say that? I have heard they do that, and put out some rumors at the Xbox 360 launch as well.

I do know the graphics shown above could probably have been done on the Nintendo 64, so I don't know what they are complaining about.
