Microsoft Nears SuperComputer OS release
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   May 09, 2006
Usually, product releases in the Mainframe and Supercomputer market don't find a mention in mainstream media. The product releases here are slower and often a single product goes on for years with minimum of fuss and changes. So I was a little surprised when Microsoft announced that it has released a near-final version of its Windows Computer Cluster Server 2003 - a version of its operating system tailored to allow powerful clusters of Windows-based machines to process huge number crunching.

The product, which was originally expected last year, is now slated to be finalized by June, with about 30 customers already testing the software.
