Microsoft To Issue Fix For Cursor Bug
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Apr 02,2007

In a bid to probably move attention away from what has to be the most embarrassing vulnerability ever discovered on its platforms, Microsoft has announced that it plans to fix the error by issuing a timely and quick update. The bug that had been discovered last week involves using a deliberately coded .ani animated cursor file, which could lead to a machine being compromised with malignant code.

The issue has caused Microsoft much embarrassment, as icon files, are the staple of any operating system and for that itself to turn into an exploit is is rather funny.

The vulnerability is far-reaching as it affects Windows 2000, Microsoft Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
