Microsoft has already begun to work on a service pack for Windows Vista. According to this report, Microsoft is looking to release the new service pack by Q4 2007. In the email which has been sent to potential beta participants, Microsoft has said it is hoping to get partners and consumers to participate in the Technology Adoption Program to actively test and provide feedback on Windows Vista SP1.
The TAP project has been been assigned the codename Fiji and seeks to do the following activities as described in their email — "Microsoft is looking to tackle regressions from Windows Vista and Windows XP, security, deployment blockers and other high impact issues [as its] primary focus for the Service Pack. The Windows TAP team will work with customers to identify and drive these issues."
I am guessing apart from the obvious bug fixes, this SP1 will also roll out certain crucial features that were dropped from the RTM release of Windows Vista such as Powershell, which is a command-line task-based scripting technology.
