Tweaking your adrenal system now allows you to move a lot faster than you previously used to, and if that wasn’t enough, you now even have the ability to slow time down (but of course). Adrenaline will play a very important role in the game and your adrenaline bar will keep replenishing itself after usage, but you could always speed up the entire process with syringes or the crowd favorite; enemy execution. Like I mentioned earlier, this boost in adrenaline will allow you super fast movements which means you’ll be able to clear a room with your trusty knife in a matter of seconds, but for some reason if you haven’t managed to take care of the problem entirely, you’ll be able to fall back on your ever dependable arsenal that’ll consist of regular stuff like pistols, shotguns etc. If weapons aren’t your thing, the game will also allow you to pummel your enemies to death with a flurry of punches and kicks. Oh! and while your kicking the crap out of them, you’ll even be able to slow time down so you’ll be able to land dozens of blows in a couple of seconds (think God Hand, but better).
Every enemy in a particular area will be denoted by dots on your HUD and depending on how aware they are of your presence, will their color be denoted; yellow will mean they have no clue as to your whereabouts, while red obviously means that its about to hit the fan very soon. But don’t just expect stupid grunts to keep patrolling an area, the developer seem to have taken pains in polishing the game’s AI which means that enemies will exhibit some sort of awareness at all times (or so they claim), so patrolling enemies won’t just stand still if you knock off a light or so, they will come to investigate or maybe even call someone to come and fix it.
Even though the game doesn’t sound extremely stealthy, it’ll still require you to move carefully in the shadows, before you lay the smackdown on your foes. As of now, the game is at such an early stage, it doesn’t even have a publisher, but I really hope these guys can pull this off since there are a lot of interesting ideas floating around here. Cipher Complex will release on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in 2007.
