When you’ve got a franchise as great as Half-Life under your banner, people are bound to expect a lot from you. But sadly no matter how hard you work on them, the sort of success achieved with Half-Life 1&2 is hard to replicate, even for a studio as successful as Valve. So do you do to keep gamers hooked and ensure that your product sells? Three words - Value For Money.
The Orange Box will give you 5 games – Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, for just $49.99 (around Rs. 2000) for PC and $59.99 for the Xbox 360/PS3 (around Rs. 2400, but the price will probably increase by the time the package reaches Indian shores), which in my opinion is incredible bang for your buck – especially if you’ve not played Half-Life 2 or Half-Life 2: Episode One. As most of you already know, the game is made using the Source engine, which means that you’ll be able to play it on almost anything between a low-end to a high-end system (for PC that is).
Now let’s take a look at each of the new titles…
