If you wish to make your Overlord fight, you have to use your spacebar key to lay some pretty lame looking blows. Don’t worry though, your Overlord isn’t completely gimped – you gain access to spells along your way too, which are quite powerful and can be used to devastate your enemies with ease.
In the build we got our hands on the combat system that seemed like quite a lot of fun initially but the more I played the more I noticed that it lacked depth. Let's hope that Triumph Studios add a little to the combat, especially where the Overlord is concerned – maybe a few unlockable combos or something; or even the damned ability to jump!
An area where the game doesn’t falter at all is with the visuals; the game looks positively orgasmic to the core. It has a sort of fairytale-ish visual style that is enhanced by a bright, contrasting color scheme and some well used bloom effect. Everything from the Overlord’s armor to the scenery is pretty detailed, adding depth to the eye-candy the game has to offer.
Other than the lack of depth in the combat system, Overlord seems like its shaping up pretty well. If Triumph Studios manages to add more elements to the combat system, Overlord may very well be one of the most unique offerings of 2007, that'll certainly be worth a buy.
