After developer Acclaim filed for bankruptcy in 2004, a lot of their franchises were left in the dust, while some like Turok were picked up by other developers. Based on the comic book of the same name, Turok, the dinosaur hunter was introduced to the world way back in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. The game was a breath of fresh air with its innovative gameplay, platforming element and well, the chance to hunt down prehistoric monstrosities. Even though the game’s final iteration, Turok Evolution was spat on by gamers as well as critics alike, there were still those who hoped the game would one day make the jump to next gen consoles, but all those hopes were pooped on when developer Acclaim filed for bankruptcy. Luckily Buena Vista games picked up the rights for this game in 2005 as a result of which we now have a band new Turok game to look forward too for next gen consoles. Strap up, dinosaur hunting season is about to begin…
Turok is being developed by Propaganda games, a subsidiary of Buena Vista games and unlike previous Turok titles that had you hunting tons of dinosaurs, the story this time round will revolve around Joseph Turok, a former Black ops commando who’s tasked with bringing down a nefarious criminal (who by the way was his mentor once upon a time). Perusing this criminal leads Turok to a genetically altered planet and as you all know, things never go as planned and Turok’s ship gets shot down while approaching the planet so he now has to use his wits, weapons and all the available resources to survive the monstrosities lurking there... dinosaurs included.
