Long before Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas ruled the tactical shooter roster, Ubisoft enthralled gamers with the next generation iteration of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW). Not only did it provide gamers with a true next gen experience, but it was fast paced, addictive, and offered solid multiplayer gameplay as well. Nearly a year later Ubisoft’s back with a sequel that doesn’t bother fixing what isn’t broken but it does improve on its predecessor in many ways. Before I give you the rundown on what’s new, let’s take a look at the game’s plot…
GRAW 2 takes place immediately after the events of GRAW with some sort of trouble brewing along the US/Mexican border thanks to restless Mexican rebels who have some sort of nefarious plan up their sleeve. Captain Mitchell and his bunch of merry Ghosts have been called in to put a lid on the situation and contain this problem before it spirals out of control. Enter soldier 2.0…
A major gripe people had with the previous game was that Mexico city got a bit boring and mundane after a while as a result of which most of the game will not only take place at the border but it’ll spill into the nearby countryside and the Texan town of El Paso as well. Different tactics will have to be employed in different environments to ensure your survival on the battlefield so certain levels like the barren desert will be a bit a lot trickier to navigate as they offer little cover, while you’ll be able to move around a lot easier in urban environments as you’ll have tons of objects/building to take cover against. As opposed to the previous game, the squad you decide to take along with you will affect gameplay radically so if you choose a medic to accompany you, you and your team will get the medical attention as and when needed (since medics can carry upto seven med kits at a time), but on the flip side, he’s a lot less efficient with a weapon making him a bit of a liability during combat.
