If you don’t want to use the short USB clip on the strap, aigo has provided a longer one just in case. Personally, I think they should have included a 2.5mm to 3.5mm earphone socket converter as well. But those are easy to come by, so if you want to use a better set of earphones, just get your hands on a converter and you’re good to go.
The battery life isn’t exceptional but it's still quite good, providing at least 4.5 hours of playback. The good thing is that the player battery is independent of the watch battery. The microphone is the only weak point. I mean, it’s a feature that could come in handy, but wouldn’t you rather have an FM radio or something? I would.
Well, that sums up the available features. Did I miss something? Oh yeah, before I forget – it also tells the time!
A Tip
Some peeps mentioned this may be a cool concept and all that, but it doesn’t look easy to move around with the wire hanging down your arm. If you were traveling by train or bus, the loose wire could get stuck and break, or worse, snag on your neighbor's clothes and create an embarrassing situation. So let me show you how I recommend using the Aigo A020:
What you do is wrap the wire round your arm (not too tight of course) and pass it through your sleeve. The wire’s neatly coiled and since it’s inside your shirt, it’s covered. I also realized that the earphones sit quite comfortably that way as they come out from inside your shirt collar. This also leaves your hand free to do everything else. (No silly jokes please, I'm serious.)
The Bottom Line
As I said, the concept may not be very new, but the product is really good. It’s easy to use, comfy to wear, and also looks good. Priced at Rs 4,150 for 512MB, it holds plenty of music affordably to get you through the most arduous commute. The USB cable in the strap ensures you can simply plug it into the USB port of a PC/laptop to charge it or transfer data. There's no need for extra cables.
To sum up, the A020 is a great product and could make a great Diwali gift as I suggested earlier. The guys at aigo have done a good job, but hey, let's try to get them to think digital, and slap on an FM radio and maybe more memory next time. What say?
