Creative Aurvana DJ Headphones
By: Siddharth Bhatia   |   Jan 21,2008
Tight low-end sound
Decent bass
Expensive
Bright sound

Performance
The first thing I noticed is the ergonomic factor of these headphones, as DJs will be using it for hours, that too standing up. As you put them on they do feel a bit heavy, but you get used to it after a while.

I checked it on my office PC and ran a few test tones and audio checking material, to yield these results: bass was not audible all the way down to 20 Hz; at about 27 Hz the levels dropped off. The response was not linear above 2K, the highs and high mids were at least 3dB higher, simply speaking the headphones sounded bright.

But I must state the DJ headphones are generally more ‘present’ then regular models, as the DJ needs to clearly hear what's in his cue, against the super loud track that is already playing on the PA.

I don’t prefer this type though; subjectively I like rounded responses. The bass was extremely tight though, and the beats sounded very good. This was probably the best part of the sound. I found this out once I started some funk/disco FLACs and audio CDs. Level-wise the headphones' perceived loudness was decent, though not the loudest.

Conclusion
At Rs 8000, these are expensive. Drop Rs 2500 and the product would be worth it. Further, I don’t like the high frequency response. Sound timing and bass response are very impressive though; so enthusiasts and DJs who have the cash might want to try these out.

I wouldn't want one for even $79. I have a Sony MDR series that I bought in USA for $30. I have compared this against many and it kicks the butt out of most headphones available in indian market upto INR 3500.

I agree, way to expensive. Would not want to drop 8k for them especially when one can get Sony MDRv 7000 or the like for around the same amount or actually less if you hunt around and they are vastly superior cans.

If one is looking for a pair of good cans for less i would recommend the Technics RP-DJ1200 which can be had for a lot less. Some of their home cans are also pretty good
