A good pair of headphones as as personal as any of your belongings can possibly be, and if you're the kind who lives for music, you definitely need one. Especially for the office, which can be anything but calm. It is not necessary to spend a fortune either, which is why I've decided to review a pair of nice, simple headphones that can be used at the home or workplace: the Philips SHP2000.
Design and Specs
This is a very light unit, and quite simply designed. I wasn’t expecting too much out of the design, as cosmetic enhancements increase costs. The finish is a smooth black, with a faint luster. The good thing about this model is the comfort; it can be worn for hours without any problem whatsoever. The main factors responsible for this are the light weight, the cloth cushions on the earpads, and the fully adjustable headband that's made from ‘not-so-hard’ plastic.
The logo and model names are printed in small typeface on the both cans, right at the centre. The cord is singular, and is 2m long. These are closed back circumaural type, with 40 mm drivers enclosed in the sponge-laden housing. The impedance is 32 Ohm, with a rated response of 15 – 20,000 Hz. That’s pretty wide, isn’t it? The sensitivity is 100 dB, which is decent; we can expect some loudness.
