Performance
This is exactly what they mean by 'Never judge a book by it's cover'. Once I got past the camera's looks and simplistic features, I was actually impressed by its image quality.
The CCD sensor takes full advantage of it's 10 megapixel resolution to give you excellent detail level in the focussed parts of your shots. All the sharp parts of the image showed good detail without any kind of visible compression marks making it look as natural as can get.
There wasn't any pin-cushion effect either in any of the test images, which shows that the camera's sensor gives you edge to edge sharpness in your images.
The color reproduction too worked pretty well on this camera. It captured all the reds, yellows, pinks and greens pretty well and added the right amount of saturation to make the images look bright but not gaudy.
But though the image quality in this one rocked, the speeds didn't. The i1032 is an overall slow camera with its unimpressive speeds of 4-5 seconds between consecutive shots (without flash), and the same amount of time from power up to the first shot. There's also a bit of shutter delay, which is more obvious in shots taken at lower brightness settings.
Conclusion
In the end, the Polaroid i1032 won't win any points for its looks, and as nice as its features may be, they definitely don't justify its price of Rs. 20,990. When it all comes down to its performance, the image quality is no doubt very high, but it's sluggish speeds are a disappointment. It would have done pretty well at a budget price point, but at Rs. 20,990 you can easily get much better cameras and still be left with good change for accessories.
My advice to Polaroid--do what you've always been great at, and innovate. You guys have always produced fun cameras and that's exactly what you should stick to rather than getting into the 'megapixel rat-race.'
