Clearly hoping to capitalize on the success of the N95, Nokia's upgraded it to 8GB. Frankly there's little sense in reviewing the phone from scratch as it's similar to its predecessor in a lot of ways, and much has been written about the earlier model. Tech2.0 had reviewed it too, so here we shall concentrate on what's new in the 8GB version.
This phone picks up from the original N95 design with dimensions of 99 x 53 x 21 mm; the only difference is that the 8GB has put on some weight. It's gained 8g over its predecessor to tilt the scales at 128g. The form factor is largely unchanged, but the screen has been made fractionally larger.
The screen now also comes with scratch resistance, which really seems to work. You can use the dual slider design of the phone in much the same fashion. Slide down and it will expose the multimedia buttons, while at the same time changing the screen orientation to landscape.

The other design elements have mostly kept true to mirror the original. You will find the usual assortment of buttons below the screen, with the charging and the USB slot at the bottom. The camera, along with the flash (which now appears below the lens, instead of being beside it like in the N95) can be found at the back.

The stereo speakers are placed at either side of the phone, with dedicated camera buttons on the right of the screen along with the volume/zoom keys. The power button is on top, and the secondary camera just above the screen. As I mentioned earlier, it's not very different from the N95.

Nokia N95, i think, is much slower and gets frquently stuck, specially while in the net. A larger memory card may solve the problem, but overall its slowness is a feature that may just put it back over several others in the N and E series.

This site always blames SE.But infact SE rocks in music, camera everything.Nokia is crap.Only N73 is good phone.I never go for Nokia handsets even someone gifting me for free of cost.People prefer nokia coz it gives loud sound for showoff and extra features(which hangs phone). But in earphone SE is baap all phones. No one beat SE in Bass.Nokia sounds like old cassete player.Hats off to SE....

i think Vijay is right, hello vijay could u tell me which model u have and from where i can get it in New Delhi under garantee. i dont want to spend 22k.pl also tell if touch screen is interactive like Apple I-phone or not. thanks
sanjeev @ Mar 05,2008
i think u have missed out on a lot of points and the last point that you have made that there is no reason to pick this phone over the n95 vanilla is very much misrepresented.

Let me list the differences

1. battery: increased to 1200 mAH. A much required boost !

2. Larger screen size: 2.6 inch vs 2.8 inches. Does make a difference

3. Much much needed increase in RAM and demand paging

4.Much better build quality and more robust slider.

5. Assisted GPS, better lock-on times.

6. Dimpled dedicated play pause buttons

7. White LED vs. Blue in the previous model. White looks much better.

Negatives are

1. No lens cover. But the lens or to be precise the glass over the lens cover ( the lens is beneath the glass) is indented and hence not very vulnerable to scratches.

N95 8GB IS GOOD PHONE. IT IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN ANY OTHER PHONE IN NSERIES, WITH STYLISH LOOK AND 5 MP CAMERA. WHEN I GET SOME MONEY, I WILL BUY IT. THANK YOU NOKIA FOR LAUNCH OF THIS PHONE.

novilin @ Feb 28,2008
price is too high in comparison to quality
ganesh kumar mishra @ Feb 27,2008
seriously, my chinese mobile is damn good with lot of features like touch screen, shake the song/wallpaper, damn good quality camera and spare battery. It's xtra large screen and camera/video can rival any digicam.. 4 speaker output...more over... its a dual sim phone.. price... blieve when I say that I got it for 6k!!!! I see no reason to spend 22k for these phones which gets outdated in 6 months of time....
Vijay @ Feb 26,2008

Well N95 has very few disadvantages ex:no external memory slot,no lens cover ,other than this its great.. I wonder if someone makes custom phones so that our complaining mouths get a rest....!

I completely agree with umesh D. While all other sites mention that N95 8GB is faster to operate(Due to Increased RAM & Demand Paging), Tech2 does the reverse. I think Tech2 Guys should get some gyan by reading reviews at GSMArena.com & Phonearena.com. N95 8GB is no way sluggish compared to the N95
Kamal @ Feb 26,2008
Nokia sucks!!!!
vaibhav @ Feb 25,2008
I'm surprised to read that N95 8GB is slower than N95 classic because all other reviews mention N95 8GB is faster than N95 unless you have that 8GB memory full or while the media player is scanning the 8GB memory for new media.

I have checked this myself and feel this comment is inappropriate.

No camera lens cover is probably the only negative thing on this phone apart from being a fingerprint magnet because of the black color scheme.

Apart from above, it's probably better than N82 which is again in it's own class being candy bar and with xenon flash.
Umesh D @ Feb 25,2008
