Battery
I was able to watch TV, listen to a little bit of music, videos, radio and use the camera for a full day, and still had a little bit of battery left for a few calls. We’re talking about a little over 3 hours of talk time here. However, i-teq has also included another battery with a desktop charger along with the kit. The extra battery is more powerful at 1300mAh, compared to the main battery which is 920mAh. So that should provide you with an easy 4 hours plus of talk time.
Kit
The only reason I’m mentioning this separately is because the folks at i-teq have really gone all out when offering extras with this phone. Their kit is so full of goodies for the phone that it feels a bit like Christmas.
Let me clue you in on the contents of your package. You get a leather carry-case, an extra stylus, a 2GB miniSD card, a Bluetooth stereo headset, two converter cables for audio and for connecting your cable TV to the phone, a USB cable, earphones / hands-free and since this is a TV phone you’ll also get a tiny steel antenna. And, as mentioned before, the extra battery and a portable desktop charger. Nice!
Conclusion
As excited as I am to have a TV in a mobile phone, considering I’m an addict, I have to say that unfortunately the idea of only being able to watch free TV i.e. Doordarshan is not altogether appealing to say the least. With CAS and DTH now being the norm (in my part of the city, at least), it makes it even more redundant. But at these times when the World Cup matches are being shown on Doordarshan, this can come in handy. But where? I’m not sure. Since I can’t use it on the go while commuting or in the suburbs, I’m not sure what use this ‘mobile’ TV phone would be.
Now this phone is priced at around Rs. 27,000. To be honest, I’m not sure it’s worth the price, but when you evaluate the price of some of the extras it comes with, it could change your mind. I mean the Bluetooth headset itself is worth around Rs. 4,000 and the extra battery and charger would set you back another Rs. 1,500 or so. So you do get a lot of extras for that price. But the question really is what if the device didn’t come with so many extras would you go out and get one? Probably 'Yes'. If the mobile TV phone can record my TV shows, I’d like that. If it took cable TV/CAS/DTH, I’d like that too. Bottom Line - It's just an 'Ok' phone. If it did actually work on the go, it would be worth it. But this one doesn't, so it's not too impressive in that context.
