French mobile manufacturer Sagem, though they’ve been out of the scene for awhile now, has jumped in to the deep end and given us the Sagem Bleu my700x slim mobile phone with A2DP compatibility.
Why it’s called the "my" 700x I wish I knew. But perhaps the letters 'm' and 'y' are not meant to be read together as a word but separately.
Design
Without sounding sexist, let me just say, this is a phone that’s probably designed by and for women. Let me elaborate. To begin with this model, although called 'Bleu' is, in fact, pink. I couldn’t really find any blue at all. It seems like all the device panels either have pink colors or a flowery design in them.
The phone is sleek, slim with dimensions of 106 x 46 x 15 mm, and weighs in at a mere 95gm. It has a 1.8-inch, 256k, 176x220 pixel TFT display and even that’s a bit wasted due to the really dreary colors the interface uses. On one side you’ll find the volume / zoom keys and the music player key just below. There’s a dedicated Music Player key though it is used as the shutter release button when in camera mode. The other side just has the hot-swap slot for a miniSD card.
Below is the propriety connector which doubles as a USB connectivity slot as well. What I find most umm… how shall I put this…'kooky', are the keys. The pad has this odd sort of, three rounded out keys that tend to make it a bit pesky to type. On the rear is the camera and in case you get stumped trying to open the rear panel to insert the sim-card, don’t try sliding it. Simply slip your nail under the edge of the bottom and peel it up lightly so the whole panel pops up.
The i.Tech Bluetooth stereo headset that’s included with the my700x is great. From the design to the quality, I liked the way these could be bent and folded so neatly for storage. You can check out the review here.
Features
I'm afraid the features were extremely unimpressive. The user interface is just plain boring with plain and small icons. The sub menus are also rather tiny and maneuvering through them is not too easy but not too tricky either, to be fair. The backgrounds, themes and wallpapers are all rather feminine. So needless to say I felt a bit funny walking around with the phone.
It's got your basic features as well – calendar, alarm, reminders, converter blah, blah. Nothing new, nothing extra, booorrriinng! Even the games it has are just demos for which you'll need to download the full versions.
Other than these I’m afraid the phone is devoid of any other functions that are worthy of mention.
