The thing about the Incredible Hulk franchise is that it tends to get old fast. Even in the comics, after the writers realize there's just so much of Hulk's mindless destruction that can be justified, they try to imbue him with personality traits in a bid to come up with a storyline. In its roots, however, the Hulk is your regular intelligence-free destroy-everything kind of guy. And so is this Nintendo DS game.
If there was a storyline hidden anywhere in this game I clearly missed it. The opening video shows a few seconds of Bruce Banner tuning into Hulk (very lazily, may I add) and you start on your destruction romp from there on. You have no idea why there are so many people pitifully shooting at you, why you're getting hurt by pissy firepower that should tickle a character like the Hulk on a regular day, and why you're destroying those satellite transmitters at the end of every level.
When it comes down to gameplay there's a clear focus on the Hulk "Smash" aspect. You get to hit a lot of people who gratify you – by flying away, smashing objects on the way, you get to destroy a lot of the terrain to make your way across the levels and there are a few other things that also make you go smash through the the game. As much fun as doing all that is initially, it unfortunately tends to get very repetitive after a few levels.
