COD4's 3D engine looks awesome on the DS. Considering the amount of terrain rendering required at a fast pace for the various missions in the game, I was pretty impressed with the way the DS churned out the landscapes with minimal hiccups. The parts I did notice a slight drop in framerate were the chopper missions and the instances when you were on a vehicle as a gunner. Still, the game never framed to the extent where it would affect my gameplay, so it's not that big a deal.
There's not much of a soundtrack in the game but there's a tremendous amount of in-game dialog. The sound effects too are above average compared to what we usually encounter on the DS.
Of course, any COD4 game is incomplete without a multiplayer element and this one is no exception. There's no internet play, but you do have game options for local wireless multiplayer. This includes favorites like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Hunter vs. Prey, all of which are a joy to play, especially on four-player multiplayer. On a single cart between multiple DSes, however, you are only restricted to deathmatch, which is still not too shabby.
COD4 has everything that you would want from a first person shooter, besides internet play. Though it doesn't bring in anything you haven't seen before, it's still a great single-player experience with the variety of missions and the sheer production value. The multiplayer will definitely extend the lifespan of the game... if you have another person with a DS to play with. Definitely worth its price of admission.
